Five Weeks and Counting

Last Friday at 4:20 PM, or so, marked the fifth straight week without wireless internet at the St. George Branch of the Washington County Library. This is beyond ridiculous. They are certainly not required to provide this luxury, but since they do offer it, they can at least ensure that it works.

Anyway, I regret to inform any of you who have been wishing to IM me that I am still unable to do so. Internet from the convenience of my laptop is unavailable. I talked to one of the librarians yesterday and she said they didn’t expect it to be running again until June. It is her understanding that they (the county “I.T.” guys) were planning on getting it fixed permanently.

It is disappointing, but at least now I know it’s not going to work for a few months. It’s no big deal either, it’s just that I had gotten used to it. Having the internet at my fingertips expanded my resources providing me with online references such as dictionaries, and so on. It also made it easier to update my website/blog and keep in touch with everyone.

For a while, I was wondering if they would just forget about it until the new main branch building gets finished. Maybe they will.

On a side note, I did notice that they (the library) had a new webpage. I like the old one better.

Well, Oh…
